Your dream skirt is here! The Kablooie RaRa skirt is a whole heap of fun, fabulous fashion – the style is 4 cascading layers of lots of ruffles, and will be a statement piece you’ll reach for again and again in the spring and summer party season.
It’s time for this very special skirt to come to life, just for you – and make your colour fashion dreams come true! Whenever you slip into your customised Rara skirt, you’ll get a never ending stream of compliments and people running up to ask you WHERE DID YOU GET THAT SKIRT?!
Each tiered ruffle skirt is handcut, using designer fabrics printed exclusively for Kablooie. (On occasion, I will also use requested fabric from special suppliers such as Material Difference (Kasey Rainbow designs amongst others), and will also create some pieces with vintage or upcycled fabrics where this is available.)

More about this skirt: The tiered ruffle skirt has a full elastic waist, and a simple A Line skirt piece, which is overlaid with 4 layers of hand cut and gathered ruffles. The Ruffles are gathered and attached at the top, and at 20cm long, are the perfect length to provide flattering layers down the length of the dress, which move and flow with you. The original skirt, pictured is designed to sit below the knee, but I can work with this design to create a style that sits above your knee or simply works better for your height, so the dress flatters and showcases you. You can request a specific length for the skirt to suit your own height, and I will adjust the length of the tiers to make this work.
POCKETS: The basic skirt price DOES NOT include the classic Kablooie hidden side pockets. This is because with the standard design, they don’t fit in the space between the layers of ruffles, and splitting the ruffles at the side hem would interrupt the flow and swirl of the dress layers as they move around. However, for a small additional cost, you can fulfil your dream of pockets in EVERYTHING – I can add pockets with some changes to the construction of the skirt in between the first and second layers of ruffles (see photos for close up)
You can choose any of my current cotton fabrics in stock to feature on your skirt – either one fabric for the entire piece (like the original), or you can mix and match with different fabrics for the tiers. The mix and match can be in themes like:
Black background fabrics (eg faces, retro bloom, shape up)
Blue fabrics (either lighter or darker blues like hello tiger, brand new day, sunshine garden)
Pink fabrics (with a mix of some white if you’d like lighter, like pink bananas for mangoes, pink prawny prawns, or jungle fever)
Or you can choose a whole heap of colours mixed up together!
You can also choose to have one fabric for all the tiers, or 2 specific designs that alternate.
Here’s how we work together to create your dream dress:
Step 1 – Choose your size – this should be based on your current Kablooie skirt size (regular style is the closest).
Step 2 – choose the fabric or theme for your tiered Ruffle skirt from the drop down options. If you aren’t familiar with my exclusive fabrics, the best place to familiarise yourself is by browsing my Babydoll cotton dresses, as the full range of fabrics is displayed here.
If you’d like a mix of fabrics, and are not sure of what would work – I have LOTS of ideas. You can safely leave it in my hands to select a combination of fabrics (such as the pictured examples) that fit that theme and handcut your skirt for you. Just choose the colours that are closest to what you want and leave it with me to work my magic.
If you have a specific vision in mind, you can choose the custom option, and list the fabrics you would like included in your skirt, in the notes section on this page. – please be specific about fabrics you are requesting if so. Please also clearly state if there are fabrics you do not want in your skirt, so I know to avoid them – otherwise anything goes!
Step 3 – Choose the length of your skirt – 3 or 4 tiers, and let me know whether you want to adjust the length of the skirt (ie if you are very tall and want 5-10 cm added, we will add an equal amount to each tier. If you are more petite and would like 15cm taken off, I will adjust each tier to take this length off). Please add this request to the notes box.
Step 4 – You decide whether to add a complementary Boxy Cropped top, regular boxy top, fabric belt or other accessories from the options available, and tick those required.
A few important points
You can request the usual free customisations – more scooped neckline, adjust the length of the bodice up or down or adjust the length – using the notes section.
You can also add a belt, as well as the usual accessories using the ticked options.
Please choose your fabrics and accessories carefully, as cutting can start quickly and orders can’t be modified after we’ve started designing and cutting.
These are special pieces, cut from designer 100% cotton, and are specific to you, so please check sizing carefully before commencing, as each piece can not be returned or exchanged if you change your mind. Please remember you can very easily try a size on before you purchase, using my ‘Try Before You Buy‘ option – I send a sample skirt (which is the base style of this dress) out to you at home to try – trying 2 sizes is best in case one is too small or big. You can then order knowing your preferred size.
Base pricing for this dress starts at $280 including gst (for 3 tiers) – any customisations will add to this base price. If you have specific requests which with affect the price of the dress, I will contact you regarding a quote for the additional work and payment options.
